World Leaders have the power to stop children suffering with poverty and disease, violence and hunger.

We're currently responding to emergencies in more than 20 countries around the world, including Zimbabwe, Haiti, India, Ethiopia and Russia/Georgia.

Zimbabwe appeal On 15 September, Zimbabwean President, Robert Mugabe, signed a power-sharing deal with Morgan Tsvangirai. Now that the country's doors are open to aid, at last we can help children we couldn't reach before. We'll be scaling up our work to reach thousands of families and children. Tropical storms in Haiti Since mid-August, Haiti has been struck by three tropical storms. Families are struggling to survive the onslaught. Children are particularly at risk. We’re working to reach 7,000 families in some of the worst affected areas. Learn more about Save the Children's emergency response in Haiti.

Floods in India The district of Bihar has been hit by colossal rainfall. The area is suffering the worst floods in over half a century. More than 5 million people, including 2 million children, have been forced to flee their homes after the river Kosi dramatically changed course and flooded areas that were thought to be safe. We're on the ground delivering emergency aid to those who need it desperately. Find out more about our emergency work in India.

Ethiopia The global food crisis has left 75,000 children in Ethiopia's poorest regions severely malnourished. Our healthcare and nutrition work there is critical. We're also providing long-term help within communities, providing training and supplies to support people's livelihoods.

Russia/Georgia conflict Save the Children has issued an urgent appeal for $1 million (£530,000) to meet the critical needs of thousands of children and their families forced to flee their homes as a result of the conflict between Georgia and Russia. Make a donation to support this appeal.
