EMILY SCHALLERS STORY

. Emily Schaller is an amazing 27 year old from Detroit, MI who has been living with CF for her whole life. She also happens to be a fundraiser, athlete, drummer, jokester and unofficial Ellen look-alike. Emily has been hoping to get on Ellen to spread the word about Cystic Fibrosis for years! Here's why, in Em's words:

It's been my dream since Ellen hit the air to get on so I can share my story. My mission in life is to help patients with CF have the best quality of life possible and eventually, to help find a cure. The only way we can do this is by raising money and getting it to the researchers who are finding treatments that are proven to be effective.
Most of the money raised is from grassroots fundraising, people giving $5, 10, 100 or 1,000. This all adds up and is funding new treatments.

Right now we have 30+ drugs being developed that cost $1Billion EACH to make it to market. These drugs will allow patients to hopefully live well beyond the 37 year old life expectancy..maybe even long enough to become grandparents and great- grandparents.

CF is an "orphan" disease affecting 30,000 BUT IT IS THE #1 GENETIC KILLER of children and young adults. Rigorous treatments start a upon diagnosis and never stop.

I want to tell as many people as I can about CF and my life with it. As the video states "Emily has cystic fibrosis. Cystic fibrosis doesn't have Emily. " I want to give hope and inspiration to other patients with CF, their families and friends. Hopefully sharing my life and making more people aware of CF on the Ellen show will drive more money to help fund this research.
Ellen is my hero and I look up to her. Watching her show reminds me and gives me constant motivation to love and help others, no matter what.

Ellen has a captive audience that supports what she supports and that makes the Ellen Show a perfect vehicle to deliver my story.

As you know I kind of "favor Ellen" and am told this on a daily basis. At least a dozen times a week random people stop me on the street or pop into work to tell me this. I love it and find it hilarious when I have to convince people that I'm really not her!

So help us get Emily on Ellen
